Paul R. Schmeck | Paul R. Schmeck was born July 20, 1939 in Reading PA. He joined the US Army on April 18, 1962 at age 22. He trained with S Company of the 4th Training Regiment at Fort Dix, then the US Army Reserve, Co. A, 1st Battalion, 114th Infantry. Paul was called to active duty in 1964 in response to the riots in Newark NJ. He was a weapons specialist and an expert with the M1 rifle. He received commendations as a CBR Instructor on M1 Rifle, 81 MM Mortar, 4.2 MM Mortar, and 106 MM Recoilless Rifle. He attained the rank of Platoon Sgt E7 prior to separation on April 17, 1968.
